Jiak Kim House Restaurant

Singapore

Tabu Design collaborated with Studio Dinding on Jiak Kim House, a modern Asian restaurant set in a heritage-rich site once home to Singapore’s iconic Zouk nightclub. The brief called for furnishings that could bridge history and modernity—honoring the building’s past while supporting a refined dining experience. Working closely with Studio Dinding, our team delivered tailored furniture solutions that balance elegance, comfort, and functionality.

Project Details

Located along the Singapore River, Jiak Kim House is nestled in one of the city’s most culturally layered precincts. Its industrial past and architectural heritage provided both inspiration and constraints—requiring design decisions that respected the space’s character while elevating the atmosphere for contemporary diners.

Tabu Design supplied a full range of bespoke loose furniture for the main dining area and private dining rooms. The scope included:

  • Custom-designed dining chairs, tables, and service stations
  • Decorative wall panels that subtly echo the building’s warehouse origins
  • Unique rattan and wood pieces tailored to complement the interior concept

Every item was developed in close dialogue with the design team to ensure alignment with the restaurant’s vision and spatial identity.

All pieces were custom-made by Tabu Design, with production managed fully in-house. Our team worked from Studio Dinding’s detailed design direction, refining dimensions and construction details as needed. Quality control was carried out prior to overseas shipping, ensuring each item met the required standard before delivery. The result is a cohesive, elegant collection of furnishings that contributes to the seamless flow and distinct personality of Jiak Kim House.
